READING
It surprises me sometimes how God speaks to me. I recently read a book
by Francine Rivers, and there were several nuggets that caught my attention.
These nuggets weren't new to me as they are truths from God's Word, but God
reinforced these facts as I read. So let me share them with you.
"Jesus hadn't chosen men the world would have chosen. He had picked
ordinary men, with obvious faults, and made them into something extraordinary
through the indwelling of his Holy Spirit." (pg 371)
"How do you live out your faith among family and friends who are
not at all interested in the gospel? ...It's not what you say it's how you live
that has the impact." (pg 517)
"You don't need courage ahead of time. God prepares you and supplies you
with the courage you need to face difficulties when you need it." (pg 517)
"How many times do you forgive someone who has hurt you or desires your
destruction? ...No matter what anybody does to me, what they say about me, or
what their actions are, I am still called upon to forgive." (pg 518)
"We are not here for our own good pleasure. God leaves us here to be salt
and light. He wants us to live our lives to draw the lost to Him." (pg
518)
"Anyone who lives their life entirely to please God will be a light to
others, and that light will shine so that those in darkness will see and be
drawn to the hope and eternal love Christ offers." (pg 520)
"When writing this story, Francine had a key Bible verse in mind: 'Let
your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify
your Father which is in heaven' (Matthew 5:16). Our deeds, be they words,
actions, or lack thereof, define our character and allude to our motivations." (pg 521)
